Roxy & Hamish, 5 & 3yrs, Northern Ireland

Roxy and Hamish are a 5 and 3 year old pair at Assisi Animal Sanctuary. Roxy is a female bun at around 5 years old. She was formally paired with Patrick bun who unfortunately passed away due to his medical issues. Roxy can be quite a sassy bun, but deep down loves attention and head rubs. She LOVES her food, just a little bit too much, and as a result we need to make sure she stays at a comfortable weight with her diet plan. We have given Roxy some time to herself, and have now begun pairing her up with Hamish bun, who has been at the sanctuary for a while now without a partner. Hamish is a neutered male continental rabbit at around 3 years old. Hamish is a bun that prefers to do his own thing. He doesn’t mind a head-rub on his own terms, but would prefer to be investigating instead! We are still in the process of successfully bonding the two together, however so far so good! Roxy and Hamish would be better suited to an indoor home or an outdoor shed of their own with an attached run or secure garden area for supervised exercise on good days!

Harper & Bonita, 8 & 5yrs, Hertfordshire

Harper and Bonita are an 8 and 5 year old pair at Rabbit Residence. Bonita is a ladybun who knows her own mind. Rescued from Spain where she would definitely have ended up as food. She can be fear aggressive but has improved greatly since arriving with us. She does love treats and will come begging but is currently on a diet as she is overweight. Harper is a cheeky, very lively lad who adores parsley. Harper was rehomed last year but sadly returned to the rescue after his partner died. Being crossed with a wild rabbit, Harper can be very timid until he gets to know you and will also need a spacious very secure enclosure in his new home. Harper and Bonita were recently bonded by Caroline and really compliment each other as a couple. We're overjoyed that they have finally found love together.

Doug, 5yrs, Manchester

Doug is a 5 year old boy at RSPCA Manchester & Salford. Doug has had quite an upheaval but he's now in a happy place and looking for a fresh start in life. Doug has been a house rabbit all of his life but when his owner emigrated he ended up living in an outdoor set up. It upset Doug so much that he fell into depression, which resulted in gut stasis. We couldn't risk a return to the environment he hated so much so he stayed in the comfort and warmth of the vets until a foster home became free. The instant he arrived in his foster home he settled in and the relief on him was palpable; it's like he's always been there.

Pyxis, 6yrs, Glasgow

Pyxis is a 6 year old boy at Fairly Beloved. Pyxis is adapting to life as a single bunny but he is hoping it won’t be for long as he is hoping for a girl-friend to share his twilight years with. He is a little shy at first but with the aid of some tasty treats he soon comes over to see what’s on offer, he's not keen on being petted but likes to hang out and join in with whatever you're doing. He’s not quite got the hang of pooping in his litter tray but likes to help out on cleaning day by taking charge of the brush (although this is not quite as effective as his human doing it). Pyxis is a very busy bunny and spends most of his day rearranging his shed, shredding cardboard boxes and destroying willow balls. In this cold weather, when he's taking a break from being busy, he can be found relaxing on his heat pad and enjoying a nibble on a selection of food such as burgess pellets, kale, parsley, a little bit of banana and of course plenty of hay. He is very good when out in the garden, he meanders around and is content with the space he is offered although he isn’t keen to go out when it rains (not many of us are).

They would be suited to living either indoors or out. Like many others we currently have in our care they came from a so called ‘rescue’ where rabbits were neglected. Sadly Rhubarb has an ear abscess and will need an operation, it is likely that she will need ongoing after care so will only be available to an experienced home.
